Contact Haala for more information) Saturday, September 18, 2010 - Haala teaches a "Keep on Raqin', Raqs Sharqi" mini-workshop at her home studio in Cary from 2-4pm. Thursday, September 23 - Sunday, September 26, 2010 - Haala travels to Asheville to study with belly dance stars Ava Fleming and Lisa Zahiya in a professionals-only weekend intensive. I studied with Ava last year and can't recommend it highly enough for any professional who wants to take her dancing and career up to the next level. Saturday, October 2, 2010 - NCBellydance.org annual fundraiser gala show, venue TBA, Triangle Area NC. This show will benefit my other website NCBellydance.org, which is a valuable resource for Bellydance throughout North Carolina! I hope you will save this date in your calendar and come out to support this worthy cause :) There will also be a workshop earlier that day by our own award-winning dancer Deirdre. More details to come! December 2010 TBA - Halo Bellydance's annual Winter Hafla in Cary, featuring our students as well as other students from the local community. Family friendly and lots of fun! Recent Performances Saturday, June 26, 2010 - The Halo Bellydance Student Ensemble performed at the First International Dance and Music Festival in Fayetteville, sponsored by the Fayetteville Sandhills Bellydance Meetup Group. This event featured dance and music from all over the world! Sunday, June 6, 2010 - Haala hosted professional makeup artist Hayat al Hakim for an afternoon Magical Egyptian Eyes Performance Makeup workshop at the Taj MaHaala, Haala's home studio in Cary. Hayat was a very knowledgeable instructor and we learned a lot of valuable performance makeup techniques! Thanks to everyone who attended! Friday, May 21, Saturday, May 22, and Sunday, May 23, 2010 - Haala studied with renowned Egyptian dancer and choreographer Mohamed Shahin, learning new Khaliji and Oriental choreographies as well as some beautiful Egyptian combinations and technique. Saturday, May 22, and Sunday, May 23, 2010 - Haala and her students presented our annual demonstration on the fitness benefits of Belly Dance at the annual WRAL Wellness Expo, at the Jim Graham Building at the NC Fairgrounds in Raleigh. We enjoyed the opportunity to show that belly dance is a great low-impact exercise that looks beautiful on every body shape! Big thanks to my student volunteers for helping me this weekend! Wednesday, May 5, 2010 - Haala and other talented local dancers performed at the Triangle Bellydance Showcase at Taverna Nikos in Durham. Saturday, May 1, 2010 - Haala taught a sold-out "Choreograph Yourself" mini-workshop at her home studio in Cary from 2-4pm. I can't wait to see what they come up with! Friday, April 30, 2010 - Stress Fest at Meredith College! Haala returned once again to Meredith College to use bellydance and relaxation techniques help the students relax, focus and prepare for exams. It was a beautiful sunny day - perfect for relaxing outside! Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25, 2010 - Haala was invited to perform her Khaliji folkloric dance from the Persian Gulf at the Lebanese Festival, as special guest of featured performers Zouhour Al Sultan. The Lebanese Festival took place at the NC Fairgrounds and featured delicious food, dance performances, vending and more! Thank you Hannan for inviting me - it was an honor to dance with your talented troupe. Saturday, April 24, 2010 - Haala traveled to Lumberton to perform at a large outdoor Arabic-themed costume party in the evening. This was an extraordinary event!!! Saturday, April 18, 2010 - Haala danced in a gala show featuring Grammy-nominated world percussionist Souhail Kaspar and Bellydance Superstar Yasmine at the new and spacious Six String Cafe in Cary. This was an amazing live music and dance event. Saturday, April 11, 2010 - Haala traveled to Charlotte to study with Amani Jabril and Aziza Nawal, and performed in the show that evening! Amani is the instructor who introduced me to the beautiful Khaliji folkloric dance form and choreographed the Khaliji dance that I perform in the area, and so it was an extra special treat to be able to perform that dance for her. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 - Haala and other talented local dancers performed at the Triangle Bellydance Showcase at Taverna Nikos in Durham. Saturday, March 27, 2010 - Shimmy for a Cause in Wilson, this year benefitting the MS Society! Thanks for the great turnout from my students!!! Saturday, March 13 and Sunday, March 14, 2010 - Haala was honored to perform in the Mirage of the Oasis gala show featuring Bellydance Superstar Bozenka, and also attended the full weekend of workshops. Saturday, March 6, 2010 - Haala performed at an afternoon bridal shower in Chapel Hill. Tuesday, March 2, 2010 - Haala taught an introductory bellydance workshop to a Cary womens group. Saturday, February 27, 2010 - Haala taught a "Poise & Personality" mini-workshop at her home studio in Cary from 10am-12pm. We had a great time working on posture, grace, and developing our own unique personalities, as well as working on good bellydance technique and combinations. Monday, February 22, 2010 - Haala returned to Meredith College for another entertaining and educational bellydance workshop for the students! This was part of a whole evening of cultural events for Arabic Night. I had a wonderful time teaching you all again! Saturday, February 7, 2010 - Haala was the MC for the Winter Solstice Hafla featuring dance star Ariellah!! There were a variety of entertaining performances throughout the evening, as well as vending by Ariellah, Sara Beaman, and Anna Maria Cancelli. Thank you Mara for hosting such a lovely weekend!
