Saturday, December 12, 2009 - Halo Bellydance Annual Holiday Student Hafla at Bond Park in Cary. Haala and John gave local students a safe and supportive environment to perform for each other, and celebrate the season together. It was a family-friendly afternoon party, with holiday treats, kids craft table, 7 drummers drumming, many ladies dancing, and even a partridge in a pear tree!
Saturday, December 5, 2009 - Haala and her students performed at the Ole Time Winter Festival in downtown Cary, sponsored by the Heart of Cary Association and the Town of Cary. This is an annual festival that features local arts and crafts, refreshments, childrens activities, and entertainment all day. We presented an overview of Middle Eastern dance - folkloric dances from Turkey and the Persian Gulf, Modern Raqs Sharqi, and even a few holiday-themed dances!
Saturday, November 14, 2009 - Haala and her Continuing Level students performed a new Greek-flavored veil dance at Blue Moon Dance Company's Fourth Annual Fundraiser Show, this year benefitting the Sean Costello Memorial Fund for Bipolar Research. The show and silent auctions raised over $2000 for this worthy fund! Pictures and video coming soon.
Tuesday, November 3, 2009 - Haala presented a demonstration of bellydance to the Kirk of Kildaire A.I.M. group (Affirming and Inspiring Moms) in Cary from 9:30am-11:00am. Free childcare was provided, and we had a really fun time dancing! Saturday, October 24, 2009 - Haala and her 4-year old daughter performed at Haflaween, the most popular Halloween-themed Bellydance show in the Triangle! Presented by Blue Moon Dance Company, this sold out event featured a variety of entertaining Halloween performances from local dancers. This was my daughter's official stage debut, and we did a little skit from the movie Up. Photos coming soon! Saturday, October 24, 2009 - After Haflaween, Haala danced at a surprise 60th birthday party in Durham. It was a very fun time, and by the end almost everyone at the party had got up to dance! Happy Birthday, W! Saturday, October 10, 2009 - Haala performed with other local bellydancers at Cairo Calling, a gala curated show featuring legend Mohamed Shahin and Hannan Sultan at the PSI Theater in Durham. I also attended the full weekend of workshops with Mr. Shahin and took a private lesson with him in my favorite folkloric dance style: Khaliji. Saturday, October 10, 2009 - Before the Cairo Calling show, Haala performed and taught at a bridal shower in Raleigh. Everyone had a fun time and we posed for pictures afterwards. Saturday, September 26, 2009 - John Price of Halo Bellydance taught an afternoon Arabic Drumming workshop at the Music Explorium in Durham. He had a great turnout from the community with 14 students! He will be presenting another workshop in November. Saturday, September 19, 2009 - Haala danced at a surprise 50th birthday party in Chapel Hill from 10-10:30pm. Everyone got up to dance - it was such a fun time! Friday, September 11 - Sunday, September 13, 2009 - Haala traveled to Asheville for a Professionals' Weekend Intensive with Ava Fleming! This was my birthday gift to myself! Saturday, August 22, 2009 - ACCMED (The Association of Central Carolina Middle Eastern Dancers) presented "Carolina Casbah" - our first annual Teacher Showcase in the Triangle area. The showcase took place at the Halle Cultural Arts Center in Apex NC. This sold-out, standing room only show featured phenomenal talents of professional Middle Eastern dancers from throughout central North Carolina. Haala danced to the timeless music of Farid El Atrache, accompanied by her husband on riq (Middle Eastern tamborine). Pictures and video are in the gallery now!
Saturday, June 27, 2009 - Haala was honored to be one of the performers in the 40 Days 1001 Nights Dance Showcase featuring legendary dancer Tamalyn Dallal! The gala show took place at the Seby Jones Fine Arts Center at St. Augustine's College, 1315 Oakwood Avenue in Raleigh. A big thanks to Asyia for bringing Tamalyn here! You can view more photos and the video from the show in my gallery Saturday, June 20, 2009 - Halo Bellydance presented a Summer Solstice Student Hafla in Cary NC. We had a wonderful turnout from the local community - thank you for supporting us as we provide a safe and supportive place for students to spread their wings. We had a lovely variety of student dances, including Egyptian oriental, folkloric, American Tribal Style, Tribal Fusion, and skirt dancing. Many students were performing for the very first time! We also had a nice drumming demonstration from Halo Bellydance's John Price, and a drumming performance by Xavier of Fayetteville. We had refreshments, open dancing, an activity table for the children, and lots of networking and social time.

Saturday, June 13, 2009 - Haala danced at a Greek themed birthday party in Durham this evening. There was an abundance of Greek food and drinks, fireworks, and many guests wore some form of Greek attire. The family and their guests were delightful, and I hope to return to dance for them all again sometime! Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31, 2009 - Haala was asked to present a bellydance demonstration ("Bellydance: Fun and Fitness for All Ages, Shapes and Sizes") this weekend at the Clear Channel Health & Wellness Expo in Raleigh NC. This annual event draws tens of thousands of visitors! She was joined by some of her students on stage, and she also got people up from the audience to learn some moves! The Expo took place at the Jim Graham Building at the NC Fairgrounds in Raleigh. Check out some pictures in the 2009 Performance Photos gallery. May 16, 2009 - Haala traveled to Fayetteville to perform in a fundraising show for NCBellydance.org, presented by the Fayetteville and Sandhills Bellydance Meetup and Ahzs and Friends.
Photo Credit: Megan Freeman Thursday, May 1, 2009 - Haala presented her popular De-stress with Bellydance workshop at Meredith College to help them relax and focus during exam week. I've presented this at Louisburg College and at my home studio, and it leaves you feeling more centered, relaxed, and calm. Saturday, April 25, 2009 - Blue Moon Dance Company invited Haala to perform at their special Celebration of Spring Gala Show in Durham.

Saturday, April 18, 2009 - Halo Bellydance was proud to present Grammy-nominated master percussionist Souhail Kaspar, renowned musician Rachid Halihal, and other regional musicans in a very fun Hafla (party) with live music! There were featured performances from talented dancers, including the lovely Ameera, Haala of Halo Bellydance, 2004 Bellydance Superstar Yasmine and other regional dancers, all improvising to live music! The Belly Dance Shop was on hand to vend costumes and accessories, and we also had talented henna and glitter artist (Wendy Lea Feldmann) creating beautiful body art creations! Thank you for coming out and helping us to support this beautiful art form!

In addition to all the performances, we were treated to live music by the Secondhand Gypsies. Friday, February 27, 2009 & Saturday, February 28, 2009 - Shimmy South 10 Gala Performance in Raleigh featuring the famous Fahtiem, Aneena, along with talented regional dancers, including Haala. On Friday night, Haala's Continuing Level students performed at the student hafla, and Saturday night, Haala performed in the Gala Show. This was the tenth and last Shimmy South event ever, and I'd like to thank Belly Revelations for all their hard work for our community this past 10 years - next February just won't be the same without a Shimmy South! Saturday, January 3, 2009 - Haala and her students were invited to perform at "Jewels of the Triangle: A Belly Dance Gala", sponsored by the Khahari Belly Dance Collective and Happy Hips Dance Troupe. The gala staged show took place at Peace College in Raleigh and raised $900 for the Triangle Bellydance Scholarship Fund! What an amazing show! We were honored to be a part of it.
